Jamie spends many hours weekly when not riding and competing himself coaching clients.

Jamie's Biography

“I actually started riding later than most at 12 years of age. My first passion started at my auntie’s equestrian centre (Exeter Equestrian Centre) when I would spend weekend after weekend watching and studying riders and horses.

My first taste of riding was for dressage, this gave me a super advantage when I changed paths into show jumping later. I was able to combine my good grounding in schooling on the flat and dressage techniques together with show jumping, which really is the best of platforms to work from when dealing with jumping horses. My early horses included Grade A, Designer Fresh Start, General Lee-ve and an ex advanced eventer Greyfoal which I competed at 1m 10 to 1m 20.”

“At this stage in my riding career I made the decision to move to the Nottingham area. It was here I learnt more of the ‘business’ side of horses. Learning how to deal with owners, manage yards and gave me great grounding at larger shows, jumping much bigger tracks. I was fortunate to learn a lot from riders such as Michael Whitaker and Billy Twomey in my time working away from Devon. Michael’s yard was minutes away from mine and being great friends with William Whitaker and Joe Clayton, Michael was always there for help at shows.”

“I made the bold move to return back to Exeter, wanting to produce horses myself using the knowledge I had gained during my time working away professionally. This has helped to lift the level of competitive horses in the South West, which was my aim. I source and produce young horses from Holland and Belgium mainly, some are retained to compete but most are either sourced and then produced for clients or produced to sell to competitive homes, I am very lucky to have some good clients all over the world sending horses to U.S.A and U.A.E”

“I love to spend hours on end watching You Tube or rounds on the T.V, studying horses, riders and breeding, much to the delight of my girlfriend and parent when they want my attention. I always think you never stop learning and it is all very interesting for me. It is very important for me that I am very lucky to have great support around me from friends and family to owners and sponsors. For that I am very grateful to Karen at Inter-Equine Ltd, as help is never a problem and I get great advice on quality products.”

 Jamie’s Horses and Rides

 Silvers Song

Jamie

7 yr old grey gelding, KWPN by DVL Beach Boy, He is a very talented horse, Silvers Song is not my normal type of horse as he is a bit of a blood horse but with his very kind nature and super careful jump drew me too him, as a 4yr this horse jumped in the Zangersheide Young Horse Championship, just coming back from a injury in the field, I am looking forward to his return.

Curacao Van Het Kroonhof

Jamie

5 yr old gelding by Sandro Hit x  Guidam, Owned by myself and Sarah Rapson, he is an extremely well bred horse, moves beautifully and has a super scopey jump. I think this horse will be one to watch on the circuit and I am looking forward to progressing with him. His flat work is beautiful I think this horse will suit an eventing career.

Holombino

Jamie

9 yr old striking looking grey PRE stallion. Owned by Ryan Burns, a very recent ride that has come to be produced at my yard. I have high hopes for this horse as he is so honest, scopey and bold. I think he will be a 1 30m horse a little later, so he is one to watch out for.
